We are currently recruiting for the following position:

Director of Research

The Director of Research (DOR) is a newly created position reporting to Geode’s President and Chief Investment Officer.  The DOR will be responsible for the development and support of strategies for equities, fixed income, commodities and currencies as well as  assisting with asset allocation.  The DOR will manage a small team of quantitative analysts who will develop and maintain financial models for quantitative analysis and will assist in coordinating, generating and maintaining research reports and presentations.  The DOR will also provide support for the development of new products. The expectation is that this individual will create and produce analysis to support portfolio monitoring and attribution as well as analysis to support client communication and marketing, including training the research staff to assist in the marketing process.

Responsibilities:

• The development and execution of a thought leadership research agenda helping to build Geode’s reputation by presenting the work at global investment conferences and publishing papers in industry and academic journals.
  
  
• Leading the Quantitative Analysis team while aiding in their mentoring and development by overseeing the analysts' work process and performance, challenging and coaching them in their efforts to conduct strong quantitative research and producing valuable deliverables that support the investment process.
  
  
• Acting as the project-lead and manager for all research initiatives, working with systems technology and their peers, to drive initiatives to completion.
  
  
• Staying up-to-date on quantitative investment research coming from academia and the industry
  
  
• Helping the team translate raw quantitative results into investment ideas and insights that portfolio managers can use.

Qualifications:

• Significant years of experience as an investment professional, including experience in quantitative research.  Background with a leading buy side or sell side organization.
  
  
• Experience leading a team of analysts and/or researchers.
  
  
• Project leadership and product management experience.
  
  
• Demonstrates investment leadership: seeking to understand, develop, test, and deploy state of the art quantitative techniques to risk management, asset allocation and portfolio construction.
  
  
• Very strong analytical and communication skills, must exhibit the highest level of personal and professional integrity.
  
  
• Excellent presentation and technical skills. 
  
  
• Bachelor’s degree required and advanced degree and/or CFA preferred.
